Currently serving over 3.6 million members throughout the nation, Molina is a multi-state health insurance provider with more than three decades of industry experience. If you have Molina Healthcare and are interested in attending rehab for drug or alcohol addiction, it’s important to know exactly what your plan will and will not cover.
Mississippi Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center is proud to be in-network with Molina Healthcare. As a rehab that accepts Molina Healthcare, we’re able to serve a greater portion of the Mississippi population.
Molina offers an affordable range of options in Marketplace healthcare. With Marketplace or Health Exchange coverage, low-income subscribers get affordable premiums for comprehensive private pay health insurance plans.
Under the Affordable Care Act, both alcohol use disorder and substance use disorder are classified as mental health issues. With this relatively recent designation, treatments for addiction fall under the mental health services category. Thus, they are now covered in full or in part by private pay health insurance plans including those offered by Molina.
Even government-subsidized healthcare plans offer options in addiction treatment including Molina Medicare and Molina Medicaid plans. However, Molina coverage for substance abuse treatment can vary significantly from location to location, and across various plan types.
Understanding Molina Healthcare
The provisions of your Molina insurance plan are determined by the type of coverage you have and your geographic location. For instance, addiction treatment under a Molina insurance plan can include:
- Medically assisted detox
- Partial or full coverage of certain outpatient rehab services
- Mental and behavioral health services
However, subsidized Molina health insurance is unlikely to cover most or all of any outpatient program that isn’t state-run. If you have a private pay Molina health insurance plan that you’ve purchased from the Health Exchange Marketplace, you should contact Molina directly to learn more about your options for addiction treatment.
Certain Molina private pay health insurance plans will cover outpatient rehab. With private pay health insurance from Molina, your out-of-pocket expenses can include any plan deductibles that you’re responsible for, some or all of your prescription costs, and all co-payments charged at the time of check-in.
Molina Healthcare and Drug or Alcohol Rehab Coverage
Like many other health insurance providers, Molina recognizes that covering treatment costs for drug addiction can be far cheaper than not. The longer that addiction is left untreated, the more likely people are to develop secondary mental health and physical health issues. For this and other reasons, every plan type offered by Molina provides some coverage for substance use disorder. When you get treatment with us, we make using Molina insurance for drug rehab as seamless as possible.
There are several ways to determine how much coverage your Molina plan will provide for your chosen rehab treatment. You can contact Molina directly, or you can speak with one of our admissions counselors. At Mississippi Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, we’re familiar with all Molina Healthcare plans. We know which services each plan covers, and which of our programs will require out-of-pocket spending.
You also have the option of speaking with your primary care provider. Your primary doctor can refer you to a rehab facility that accepts your Molina coverage, and that offers services that are largely or fully covered by your plan.
Among some of the provisions that most Molina health insurance plans make for those with substance use disorder are:
- Drug and Alcohol Detox
- Inpatient Rehab
- Outpatient Addiction Treatment
- Individual and group therapy
- Psychological testing for clinical diagnosis of mental health disorders
Unfortunately, some Molina plans do not offer coverage for inpatient addiction treatment. Most Molina plans only provide coverage for detox support, outpatient treatment, psychological evaluation, and day treatment as needed. If you’re interested in attending inpatient treatment, we assist patients with Molina coverage in finding the perfect blend of treatment programs, services, and treatment types for their needs, budgets, and available coverage.
Molina Mental Health Coverage
Molina subscribers have the option of self-referring for mental and behavioral screening. Molina provides access to a variety of covered mental health services that can be an invaluable part of your addiction treatment. In addition to psychological screening for clinical diagnosis of suspected mental health issues, your plan may provide access to:
- Partial hospitalization programs
- Group, individual, and family treatment services
- Peer support
- Medication management
You can also receive a referral for various mental health services from your primary care provider.
Therapy Options with Molina
Molina makes it possible for recovering addicts to access a broad range of therapy types. During your recovery, your health insurance plan will pay for individual counseling that includes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and general talk therapy. It can additionally include group therapy sessions and addiction treatment services for both you and your family members.
Given that addiction is frequently referred to as a family disease, family therapy can help your loved ones better understand your substance use disorder, begin healing from the trauma of living with addiction, and prepare to offer you effective, ongoing recovery support.
